Melbourne Cup Hair Tips You Need To Know From Tigerlamb

Looking for the perfect up-do to wear to this year’s Melbourne Cup event? Tigerlamb have you covered!

October 2019

With the race that stops the nation galloping towards us, we sat down with Helen Owens, Founder of Tigerlamb to chat about this season’s hair trends and the best ways to keep your locks looking their best this Melbourne Cup.

  1. How to choose a hairstyle to suit your hat, fascinator or headband?

If you’re buying online, it’s always a great idea to see how it has been styled on the model. You also need to be mindful of size.  Normally if it’s a large statement piece you want to keep your hair nice and sleek and simple, perhaps a low pony or bun. Alternatively if it’s a finer headband or clip you can go a bit softer with your hairline or add more volume to your pony or blow dry. If you are going to get styled in a salon, always take the advice of the stylist. They know where it’s at.

  1. What hair trends will we be seeing track side?

Whether it’s with soft waves or a sleek pony, the centre part is hard to beat. It is an ongoing trend that oozes polish and sophistication.  Rope bands around ponies and incorporated into braids is starting to come through a lot along with the always classic soft Bohemian bun.

  1. Top tips for keeping your hair looking its best all day?

With our beautiful Brisbane spring weather, humidity can be an issue, so prepping the hair with the correct product is key to longevity in any style. The Frizz Dismiss range from Redken is great for smoothing the cuticle, with everything in the range from shampoo and conditioner, to priming products and serums. Then depending on the style chosen, there are a multitude of support products in the Redken range to customise your look.
